UO Bike Program

Our team highly recommends taking advantage of this program. Its scope has increased and services have multiplied in quantity and quality since the Cycling team’s Ted Sweeney became its coordinator.

Open M-F, 12:00 to 5:00 pm in the Outdoor Program Barn (18th and University), the UO Bike Program is a resource for all things bicycle to the campus community.  Head to the shop any time they’re open and get help fixing your bike for free.

They are here to help connect UO Students to bicycles.  They loan commute-ready bike for a term, or for a day.  They can help you learn to fix your own bike in our free, DIY workshop. They can advise throughout your bike buying process.

The UO Bike Program launched in September 2008 (as the Bike Loan Program) to increase access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable transportation. Through the integration of long-term bicycle loans, education, and recreation, the UO Bike Program will enhance the physical and cultural development of students. As a resource for alternative transportation, they will minimize our campus and community environmental impact.

The Bike Program is administered through the EMU Outdoor Program (OP). The Bike Program is an important step in the University of Oregon’s commitment to sustainability and reducing our impact on the environment.

Bike Maintenance Shop
The Bike Program has a do-it-yourself maintenance shop where students can use tools and workspace for free. They have internet access, “how-to” maintenance books, as well as knowledgeable staff to assist you in your repairs. The shop is located at the OP Barn on 18th and University.  Current Maintenance Shop hours are:

Monday through Friday: 12 to 5 pm

Bike Program Mechanics and program volunteers help participants learn to repair their bikes to keep them in good condition throughout the duration of the term(s). The Bike Maintenance Shop is open to UO students and OP Co-op members only.
Maintenance Classes are offered through the Bike Program.  Check the current Outdoor Program newsletter for details, or email bikes@uoregon.edu. The classes integrate information about bicycle maintenance, commuting skills, and safety.
